GRADE THREE MUSIC
Students in Grade 3 explore the wide world of music! Through folk, square and traditional ethnic dances, and by singing rounds and partner songs, your child will understand that musical beats can be grouped in different ways and that two or more melodies can exist in one song. Your child will move their body to show what music looks like to them, listen to different kinds of musical instruments and recognize that sounds are made in different ways.

Lets learn all about syncopation with these two great videos that use one of my favorite songs, "Shake the Papaya Down". We usually pat and clap on the beat but syncopation is a type of rhythm pattern that is OFF the beat. Practice syncopation rhythms in the first video and then clap or drum along with the second video!
Let's TACO 'bout Food

Here are a couple of song stories that are always a hit with the grade 3 classes! Enjoy listening and singing along!
- The first one is "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah, A Letter from Camp" which was written by Allan Sherman back in 1963! It was a song long before it ever became this fun story version.
- Our second story "This Jazz Man" is a take on the classic song "This Old Man" and gets our feet tapping and fingers snapping as it introduces us to the world of JAZZ music. Enjoy!
